Good Afternoon, Carnegie!

Over the past week, I was out of state in an area without cell service and unable to communicate until late last night, and I appreciate your patience. Since returning, I have heard from many residents who are increasingly concerned that current events may affect families here in Carnegie and across Caddo County, especially as we enter the holiday season, when times are already difficult for many and the demand for food assistance traditionally increases.

In response, I am launching a community goal of $5,000 in food donations for the month of November to support our Carnegie Food Pantry. My family will be contributing the first $300 toward that goal to start this effort with momentum.

However, based on guidance from our Food Pantry:

✅ They currently have more than enough canned vegetables (corn, peas, and green beans) thanks to a generous recent donation from Super C.

🔴 What is urgently needed now are:

• Canned meats (like tuna, Spam, etc.)

• Peanut butter and jelly

• Venison or beef donations from local hunters and ranchers (the pantry has six freezers and provides tax-deductible receipts for donated meat)

The Carnegie Food Pantry is not just serving our town. It is supporting families in 15 communities throughout Caddo County, and November and December are expected to be the busiest months of the year. In September alone, they served 79 families totaling 190 individuals, and that demand is rising.

This is our opportunity to come together as a town and show what it means to care for our neighbors. I strongly encourage our local businesses, organizations, and citizens to join me in this effort. Your donations, large or small, make a real difference.

Thank you to Carnegie First Baptist Church, who does a drive every year at this time, and Super C for also donating a number of items, and thank you to every citizen who chooses to be part of this effort.

Carnegie takes care of Carnegie and beyond, I’m so proud of our community!
